My last day at work

Today was my last day working at The Nook, it was a split shift and it was not going to be a quiet chilled out day watching movies like you did at the end of school. It was a warm day and being right by the beach I was expecting a few in, I was in the kitchen on my own today too so I quickly prepped up for lunch peeling potatoes for chips, chopping veg for salads and I also made an awesome smoked bacon and pea soup, I had said most of my goodbyes and cleared out my stuff so I was just finishing my last day before moving on to my new job. The day went quickly especially with the Bon Jovi playlist I had made for the day and before I knew it the first half of my shift was over and I could go chill for a bit before the evening service.

Checks were flying in the kitchen as soon as it was open for evening and it didn’t slow down it was actually a very enjoyable shift and I could tell the bar manager was slightly impressed I was still willing to cater for the customers that came in a good 40 minutes after we usually stop, it would have been easy just to say no clear down and finish as it was my last day but that is not who I am and I have never been one to turn a customer away.

Once all the cooking was done I cleared down washed up did the orders for the next day and left a friendly message for the chef in the next morning with the mise en place list, plus just reassuring him if he ever needs a recipe, or if he needs me to help out one day I’m only a phone call away. So I said my goodbyes got changed and had one last look around the kitchen before I finished. It was slightly emotional but I knew it was time to move on.

Here are a few pictures of the meals I cooked today.
